The Early Years Dr. Savta was born and raised in Monroe, New York. After primary and secondary education at local schools, she studied biology at Cornell University, with a concentration in genetics.
Medical Degree & Residency She received her medical degree at MCP-Hahnemann University School of Medicine (currently Drexel University College of Medicine) in Philadelphia, where she served as the American Medical Student Association chapter president. She completed her pediatric residency training at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. While serving families of the Bronx, she developed a passion for treating patients of various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds as well as diverse healthcare needs.
In Practice After practicing pediatrics for a few years in a suburban community in New Jersey, Dr. Savta took a leave of absence to care for her own growing family (as “Dr. Ima”). During this time, she became a beloved and well-respected physician at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires, and she actively contributed as a member of the year-round medical committee, establishing and implementing health policies for the camp.
In 2021, Dr. Savta joined Sound Beach Pediatrics, a thriving private practice in Stamford, Connecticut. At Sound Beach, she is an integral part of the clinical team, combining her medical and clinical knowledge and expertise with her various public health, teaching, communications, and leadership experience. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics.
At Home & In The Community During her leave of absence from clinical medicine, Dr. Savta spent several years working in SAR Academy, a vibrant Jewish day school in Riverdale, New York, serving in multiple roles: medical consultant, middle school science teacher, health educator for adolescent girls, and Director of Communications. In addition, she trained educators about school health and safety, allergies in school, and basic emergency care, and served on SAR’s COVID-19 medical committee.
Dr. Savta is the mother of four children, a mother-in-law, and a Savta to a beautiful granddaughter. She frequently travels between New York and Israel to be with her husband, who lives in Jerusalem. She is an active member of her synagogue and school community. She has participated in several half marathons in Washington, D.C. and New York City on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. When Dr. Savta is not caring for her family or her patients, she loves to run and power walk, hike, write, and experiment with new healthy recipes.
